๐ About the Fishery
Ham Pool is a long-established gravel pit controlled by South Cerney Angling Club within the famous Cotswold Water Park. Known for its peaceful surroundings and mature natural features, the lake offers rewarding carp fishing for anglers willing to move and locate fish. Reed-lined margins, overhanging trees, gravel bars, and deeper areas all create excellent holding spots throughout the seasons.
๐ Fish Stock
Ham Pool contains a healthy stock of carp including commons and mirrors exceeding 30lb. Alongside the carp fishing, the lake also supports good populations of tench, bream, perch, pike, and silver fish. The venue remains popular with specimen anglers looking for a quieter water with genuine big-fish potential and varied angling opportunities throughout the year.
๐ฏ Tactics & Methods
Successful anglers on Ham Pool often focus on locating the fish. Crayfish are present especially on the harder gravel spots, margins etc. Boilie tactics, solid PVA bags, and balanced bottom baits all produce carp consistently. During warmer periods, stalking the margins and fishing to showing fish can prove highly effective, while colder conditions often favour accurate baiting on deeper areas.Winter fishing on Ham Pool can be very rewarding if you are willing to put some time in, you will certainly reap the rewards! Ham Pool is probably South Cerney Angling Clubs best winter specimen carp water.
