π About the Fishery
Dabchick Lake is a mature gravel pit situated within the Cotswold Water Park and controlled by South Cerney Angling Club. Surrounded by natural vegetation and established marginal features, the venue offers a quieter and more traditional style of carp fishing compared to some of the busier day-ticket fisheries nearby. The lake is well regarded among local anglers for its peaceful atmosphere and healthy stock of specimen fish.
π Fish Stock
Dabchick Lake contains a quality stock of common and mirror carp with fish reported over the 30lb mark and rumours of a fishe exceeding 40lb also. The venue also supports good numbers of tench, pike, perch, roach, and bream, making it an attractive mixed fishery throughout the year. Consistent stocking and careful fishery management have helped maintain the lakeβs reputation as a productive specimen water within Gloucestershire.
π― Tactics & Methods
Successful tactics on Dabchick Lake often involve locating clean areas amongst the weed beds and presenting rigs accurately along patrol routes. Bottom bait presentations, solid PVA bags, and small baited spots all produce fish consistently. During warmer conditions, anglers targeting the margins and showing fish can gain a significant advantage, while colder months usually reward a more patient and precise approach.
